Building a Better Oregon for Our Future Generations

After the creation of the new railways, we will then have possible travel from Medford to Portland but also to Klamath Falls or to the coast and anywhere between. This means we can expand our abilities for job hunting to house hunting, we can get healthcare from further away or even education. But the one thing the Republicans fear is shopping, because according to their data bases, it would increase main street businesses sales. Increasing small business sales is always a priority. Better education is always a priority, better options for healthcare is always a priority 

About better healthcare, with private insurance playing games with high copays, deductibles and payments for poor paybacks. Look at nonhealth insurance with our Alameda fire and their poor coverage of it. When we have to have the state and federal government step in to help pay off their obligations so they can cover their CEOs, something is wrong with this picture. I purpose OR step up and offer home, auto, medical, prescription, commercial. Plus, if willing, I would allow pet insurance since so many of us consider out pets like family. I sure as heck would not like to see these funds in a corporate bank.

But let's also look at how we lower other costs. First off, we can use insurance profits to help restart medical centers abandoned by places like Assante and Providence such as Ashland current predicament where their hospital is being closed due to lack of profits. Let's fund Portland University hospital so they can reopen these medical centers that being or already closed so we make sure that first the areas get the healthcare they deserve and second, they get the staff that is respected enough to be properly paid and positions filled. And when it comes to equipment needs, again, let's ask our colleges to mastermind the best devices to use, so we can make it here, so our citizens get the best care available.

Let's talk about education, ever think about why our students fail? When someone is not respected, then that respect is shared by all around. When we don't respect our teachers enough to pay them what they are worth, then why should they respect the children they teach or even teach them about respect because many don't feel like they get it at home. And I don't say this out of hand, but from what I hear in groups and forums. Next, let's make sure public schools get the money they deserve and not private. Private wants to exist, fine, let them but not on our taxpayer's dime. Too many tuitions are subsidized by the taxpayer just because of the lies that say private does a better job, but when truth comes out, their test score suck just as bad and all you have done is subsidized another CEO. Finally, if you're going to teach kids then give them life skills they can use like we use too. How many can balance their bank accounts to make sure they are going to survive the month? How many know how to cook? I learned at home but many of my friends learned at school. For that matter, bring back classes that could lead to trade schools because not all kids feel they should be college bound. But if we have classes from drafting, more auto shop, wood shop which leads to possible construction or furniture making jobs or even some electronics classes with all the data centers going up, someone has to build these places. Planning for the future means thinking about the future leaders and who they be.

Let's talk about a living wage and how Oregon can do it way better than California mucked it upped. First, the last minimum wage law passed

by OR was a bit on the unethical side by allowing Portland/Salem having better wages than Bend/Medford/Eugene and even than taking it out even more by lowering the wage on more rural areas, which are all republican, because it looks like you are slighting then even though you claim it's only because their cost of living is less which is a republican lie. I should now, since I trained as republican strategist. The lie is the left-out factors of increased insurance cost that most people have the further out you go from the city. More out buildings, vehicles, animals, terrain like flood zones, how close to woods, earth slides, temperate zones like heavy snows and more. My parents lived in Ruch, OR and had many of these issues raise their rates. Then there is milage for driving to get life supplies from food for family to get supplies for animals to getting needs to upkeep property that are not figured in an average Cost of living analyst for someone living more rural than a city person. Worse part, this includes suburbs for people owning their homes for how many years?

I want to build a living economy in OR where the minimum wage is a training wage for no longer the 60 days and boosted to a living wage

for the whole state. This way we leave no one behind. and if this causes a raise in income, then all wage earners must get the equivalent amount of raise. So, if you're working at $21 and we raise everyone by 4 dollars than you get a wage of $25 wage now, so you keep what your seniority earned. Now many small businesses are going to complain that this would put them out of business, but they need to upgrade their thinking. After the corporations have thrown their fits and settled down, their employees will start getting their bills paid down and instead of having to worrying about always buying the cheap menu at McDonalds, frozen and canned food, they have money left over to explore food, clothes and more that are no longer out of their reach. Things that were out of their reach like Farmer's Market, Main St. restaurants and other small stores that may not have been on the internet. Then if things keep progressing like they did before republicans started repressing wages in the 70's people travel and you get new customers. My parents always said you either grow up or grow old, are you tired of the state growing old?

Another thing, wages and positions should never be about anything, but experience and time served. When people get raises or better positions

due to race, age, sex, skin color, or even how you worship it damages the mentality of the business, so workers become resentful of not just management but each other. Our society has problems with work incidents and violence, but where do you think our school problems started from?

Now, I was always taught we took care of our seniors, vets and those who needed a helping hand like the disabled. SSI, disability and veterans

services are not doing. With the imminent collapse of Social Security due to the 1983 Social Security Amendment which raised the tax from 6% to 8% but never put the 2% raise in SSI but instead loaned it to general fund and never was repaid. Helped a lot of republicans cover their tax cuts. What if OR starts to cover our seniors today with a Social Welfare Tax of 8% that is applied to people who make more than $184,500. Why that much? Because SSI Federal tax cuts off at that dollar amount and the people who lobbied to cause this issue can help to fix this issue starting now by allowing us to use their money now to bring low-income SSI, SSI disability, and never to be forgotten, veterans who are also below the living income level to get an extra check to help bring them up to a much-needed level that helps them to not worry about whether it's utilities, meds or rent they need to cover first and hope they don't lose the other. Why the republicans mistreat these people the most, I will never understand but in training, they had a huge target on their backs from them but, don't the elderly and veterans support them the most?
